Liz Morton
Just like planting a garden, I create out of optimism for the future. My mixed media work combines acrylic, ink, and mark making in layers that reward viewers with organic imaginings and transparent views rare in paintings.
Award-Winning Artist and Eastern North Carolina native, Liz studied art at Appalachian State University (Boone and NYC), Barton College (Double Major: Printmaking & Commercial Art), The University of NC at Greensboro (MFA/Painting), and Ghost Ranch, NM (Intuitive Painting). Liz has experienced significant international travel exercising every opportunity to talk with other artists and visit the studios, museums, and galleries along the way. Active in the Metropolitan DC area art scene for twenty years, she is now home in her beloved coastal NC.

Kathleen Schaffer
Kathleen Schaffer is an oil painter who uses an impasto technique with thick, juicy layers of paint. The approach allows the viewer to see her bold brush and palette knife strokes. There is a vibrancy and sense of movement in her paintings due to the texture she creates. Her use of color varies from dramatic and dynamic to beautifully harmonious. She is drawn to painting landscapes, animals (in particular dogs, cats, and birds) and seascapes of the Crystal Coast. Her style is impressionistic and some of her pieces reveal her delightful, quirky sense of humor.
Kathleen is a former professional photographer on the performance dog circuit. For 22 years she traveled across the country in an RV with her assistant and their 5 dogs going from event to event. When the Covid lockdown forced her to stay home, she turned her attention to painting. Her enthusiasm and dedication has only grown since then, and she is committed to paint every single day. Today when she travels it’s to satiate her love of learning. She attends art classes and workshops whenever and wherever she can, honing her skills and techniques and always finding inspiration for her next painting.
