Sally Anger
Sally Anger grew up in the coastal town of Beaufort, North Carolina. She has experimented and played with art all her life. In 2002 she took the plunge and left a career as a nutritionist to pursue art full time. She obtained her associates degree in fine art from the local community college and then transferred to ECU. She continues to explore new ways to express herself through experimentation, critiques with other artists and simple, deep observation of the beauty around us.
Though she enjoys landscape and abstraction, she is best known for her bold interpretations of faces, often on a large scale. She says of her recent work:
"After painting professionally for almost two decades, I am finding the freedom from complete realism. I am intrigued by the concept of making figurative work that incorporates the energy and imagination of abstraction. "
